“The reckless love of God belongs to us!
That us is the church.
And we can’t forget that before Christ, our lives weren’t neat and tidy.
We are still a work in progress,
So we shouldn’t be surprised when we meet someone who is struggling that they appear inconsiderate or rude.”
― Alex Early, The Reckless Love of God: Experiencing the Personal, Passionate Heart of the Gospel
So, I am a hopeless romantic.
I am crazy like that about love.
I long and hunger for it.
I want to look in my lovers eye and tell her how she means the world to me; how I would do anything for her.
Breakfast in bed with her would be one of the perks for having me in her life.
Holding her hands and going on long and or maybe short walks will always be a given.
I would never tire of telling her that magical ‘L’ word over and over again.
We would listen to all the Boyz II Men albums together, maybe dance and laugh as we step on each other’s toes in the name of dancing…
Hmmm…Caleb, you have to focus!
Sorry to bore you, I can like to go on and on about all of my love fantasies. Lol
I know love is the one word that gets everyone excited… or maybe not.
I have come to realise that people react to love differently and this is because of their experiences. This is what underlines their definition of love. Many will tell you that love has let them down while others will gladly take you through a blissful journey of their love life. Other people may yet still define love like walnuts that come in convoluted shells. To every man, his definition is correct and accurate but here is a twist – You are love and not the happenstance of it.
Do you remember God’s proposal in Genesis about creating man? He said
“Let’s make man in our own image” – Genesis 1:26.
Yes! He said in His own image. Now, don’t forget what 1 John 4:8 says –
“…God is Love”.
What does this tell you?
Yea! You guessed right. You are love.
But does this mean that you are perfect? That you won’t struggle with the seemingly small things that you should be ordinarily bossing over? – in simple Nigerian parlance, one would say ‘oga at the top’.
I find that although we are Christians and have committed our all to God in total surrender, some of us still fight kick-boxing with lies, unforgiveness, impatience, fornication, masturbation etc.
We contend with so many things that tend to crowd our space that we sometimes become overwhelmed and want to rather give in. After which, we begin to hate ourselves for either giving in or forever giving it thought.
Know one thing, God loves you much more than you think or imagine.
His love for you overshadows your struggles, mistakes and impulsive behaviors.
He has gifted us with the gift of love and it is by His love that we overcome our struggles. He is a hopeless romantic. He is stuck on us. He is our lover.
What is it that you are struggling with? Have you gotten to that point where you feel you are not enough or that you can’t go on?
Pause – take a break from trying to do it yourself. Lay back on His love and He will cradle you in his arms.
Know that you are love and that you have the capacity and a responsibility to also love people that find themselves struggling with things that you have overcome.
Do not judge them. Join the hopeless romantic team!
I love you and will continually pray for you as you go through your struggles.
