The greatest obstacle to one’s full release of potential is fear, how would I be able to finish the task if I eventually start; if I pay my first school fees, where would the money for the next come from; if I start a blog, what if I have no more sufficient information to keep writing; how am I going to cater for a family even when I plan to get married? All these questions keep lingering in the heart of persons who want to make decisions that are life changing. No matter how you wish you don’t have to make these decisions, you have just gotta make them right?
Just in case no one has told you before, I am telling you, “Life is a risk and only those who take the risks attached to their assignment would definitely excel”. The late Dr. Myles Munroe always said that people attributed the wealthiest place to the oil refineries, gold mines, while the actual wealthiest place is the graveyard because many dreams, visions, legacies, unfinished projects died there with people who it was given to by inspiration and you won’t be one of them.
Fear according to the word web dictionary is an emotion experienced in anticipation of some specific pain or danger (usually accompanied by a desire to flee or fight). Here you see that it is an emotion meaning it can be harnessed, it can be put in check. What would you have done now if fear wasn’t in existence? Always ask yourself that question before embarking on anything because believe me challenges would come to pose a barrier for you but it’s up to you to put it in check. The truth is fear begins with a thought, always remember that! But the good news is that you can control what thoughts affect your decisions.
I remember when I was about to write my first book on Academic Excellence and I began to have negative thoughts flow in like, who is going to read it? What do you have to say? Can you even write more than 10 pages, where would the publishing money come from? Etc. The glory of the whole thing is that I did not allow those thoughts hinder me from writing the book. The good thing is that the book got published.
Our world needs our talents, gifts, ideas to become tangible and not just in our heads because good intentions lie in the heart of the conceiver but only when it becomes tangible will other persons benefit from it. Let me tell you four points that would help you positively to deal with fear as you keep moving in line with your dreams.
Information: Information is very important, your idea might be so grand but you can easily give up if you don’t have enough information to push you through especially in times of adversity. Go for books, audio books, mentors, conferences just to keep yourself equipped for the journey ahead of you.
Guard your mind: Most ideas are first of all decided on in the mind before it even comes out. It is the seat of decision making. Don’t let people begin to tell you things you cannot do, remember that life is your responsibility. If you want to get something, go for it. Even when negative thoughts come, counter it with positive affirmations.
Your words are important: Learn to only say what you want to see, there are times when challenges would push you against the wall but learn to always only say what you mean to see.
Take Action Quick: When ideas come to you, sit down and check its viability and once its a plus, take action quick and fast just to avoid procrastination. The reason is with any idea, there is an immediate driving force to execute it but when stalled the drive has the tendency to subside.
Apply this nuggets to your life and I believe I would begin to get testimonies from you all.
